These were so much fun to make!
Ok so they were a little time-consuming but they turned out amazing! I’m tired of creating things that turn out “just ok” I want to make something that makes me smile. Something that makes me happy, satisfied and proud. It takes time to get completely comfortable with certain software programs, machines & all of those electronic devices.
How did I make these super cute Halloween Bookmarks?
I’m about to tell you each and every single detail so you can make your little one smile like mine did. He is going to have the most amazing, personalized Bookmarks from here on out.
First I have to share that when my 7-year-old came home from school yesterday with a (bigger than normal) book I was completely in awe. We are big time readers in this house. I love to read almost everything and anything and so does my husband. Turns out that our 7-year-old is taking after us in that matter. Anything to get him away from electronics works for me.
Find your “design” software:
You have to design these on a program first. I used my Cricut Design Space software and it did the job. You can adjust the dimensions after or while you are creating it’s perfect. If you do not have access to Cricuts design space you could use Photoshop, Canva or Picmonkey. Any of them will do the job plus many more like Word or Ipages will work just as fine. My favorite part about using Cricuts design space is the simplicity of it. Photoshop has a major learning curve but is so worth the time, I promise. After you upload the images you want to use on your bookmarks and have made your shape with the correct dimensions send your bookmark to your printer. Ok I’m going to rewind all the way to the very beginning now and take you through the tutorial step by step.
Again, I used Cricuts Design Space so that is what I’ll be showing here. Pick a fun font that will go with your theme. I matched all of my colors together using the color wheel on the program I was using and I clicked on my main image to see what the code for the color was. I did that with every single color so l could get a perfect match and I wrote them all down so I wouldn’t forget. Lol
Sizing your image:
Due to the size of my lil guys books that he has been bringing home I made mine on the large side 7 1/2 by 2 inches.
This is really up to you. Since I knew I was going to laminate I just used printer paper. Cardstock would work great too.
Send the image to your printer. Save time and paper and put as many on one page as you can.
If you have a laminator your all set for this step. Put as many bookmarks in one sheet as you can. We’re saving money here, those can get expensive.
I used a fiskars cutter to cut out my bookmarks it was a lot faster than scissors. Scissors will do the job, use whatever you have handy.
Now you have your very own homemade bookmarks!
This little project was so fun and my son loves them. You can use these for so many special occasions. Hand them out for Halloween for the whole class. Punch a hole in the corner and put a ribbon through them to make them look even cuter…
